Become a Pilates instructor is a hard task to do, but with proper theory or information and proper training regarding Pilates can help you take up the job easily. As an instructor you are entrusted with your client’s goal to become fit, to achieve their fitness goals or at least guiding them towards achieving one. So, when you think that becoming a Pilates instructor is just easy or simple, think again. There is more to it than what you see and think and you can only discover it when you decide to become one yourself.
To be a Pilates teacher requires careful instruction to ensure the safety of the students and enable Pilates trainer to provide the widest breadth of knowledge possible. There are many programs that are available for those who aspire to become a Pilates Instructor. There are training centers that offer weekend long courses for those who are engage to other works but still want to be a teacher of Pilates. There are also training programs that require one year of instruction which maybe taken through group training or in one-on-one training. The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) has established national certification guidelines but though certification is ideal it is not a requisite in order to be a Pilates instructor.
Aside from the theories, it is also important to know that the job as a certified Pilates trainer requires actual Pilates certification, not general certification a personal trainer or exercise instructor. Those who have general exercise instructor certifications can still become a Pilates instructor but with limited training. Further, with this kind of certification you are not recognized as nationally certified Pilates instructors.
To totally become a Pilates instructor you should do two things which are – undergo a training program that meets fundamental instruction criteria for Pilates and become a PMA certified instructor. After that, you can now officially help others achieve personal health and fitness objectives such as through many of the Pilates mid-body exercise. It is said that a well-balanced Pilates teacher should have at least 10 years of experience in the fitness system.
