The Pilates pregnancy is among the things considered by many women when it comes to the exercise requirement of a conceiving woman. This is the kind of exercise often sought by those who have difficulty in their past pregnancies. As they say, turning to the Pilates pregnancy can definitely help. If you happen to do your research, you will note that lots of women during their pregnancy turned to the Pilates. Pregnancy is one of the most awesome stages in the life of a woman, so women should make sure that it’s memorable and easier too.

One of the reasons, why Pilates and pregnancy go together so well is that the Pilates is focused on building the core strength. That would mean that your abdominals, pelvic floor or the Kegel muscles and your back will be evenly toned. This can help you in providing easier and more comfortable pregnancy.

Another great reason in doing Pilates is that the exercise is very adaptable. While your body goes through changes, exercises in the Pilates can be modified to best suit your needs. The modifications keep the intensity of the exercise and at the same time adjust the form to work for your body.

Pregnancy is also one of the best and rewarding times to tune inward and connecting with the Pilates principles of exercise, the centering, concentration, control, precision, breath and flow can help the pregnancy process. Applying these principles will not just enhance the work out experience but they also offer the skills to bring to the delivery and care of your baby.

It is also a welcoming thought that the Pilates pregnancy exercises, is not only applicable during the prenatal stages, but it is also best for post-natal stages. Just imagine that you can your pre pregnancy figure back! For sure, this is what most every woman wants.

The Pilates exercises can help the mother rebuild her strength immensely during this post natal phase. By having short Pilates exercise session of up to 30 minutes thrice a week, you can achieve a strong core and healthy back.

The Pilates pregnancy is indeed one of the best exercises to consider during pregnancy and naturally, it is suggested that you check with your doctor and midwife first for appropriate guidance.

Is Pilates during pregnancy safe? Mommies-to-be also need exercise. For most moms, Pilates is a very effective exercise to take. However, if a woman has a baby on board, is it advisable to do exercises like Pilates?

Pilates Safe Pregnant Women

During pregnancy, tummy muscles are stretched over the growing baby. The pelvic floor muscles are also suffering from stress, tending to stretch and move lower down into the pelvis, which is under the weight of the baby. This is the reason why it is hard to contract the muscles and to hold them for very long. Once the pelvic floor muscles become weak, there might be leaking urine when the pregnant woman coughs or sneezes. Also, when the tummy muscles are weak, back or pelvic pain is possible to be felt. When a woman is pregnant, the hormone relaxin causes the ligaments to stretch more than normal so if there is an overload, it will surely cause injury.

The question “Is Pilates during pregnancy safe” had been asked so many times in a day all over the world. So what’s the real answer? Since Pilates targets the tummy and pelvic floor muscles, which can weaken during pregnancy, Pilates exercises can be useful. Yes it is!

Many Pilates exercises can be done with “hands and knees” positions, which are ideal position for pregnant moms. These are useful to take a lot of stress off the back and the pelvis. The Pilates can be done from the onset up to the last month of pregnancy, so there is no worry if you want to enjoy Pilates for the whole period of your pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, you would naturally ask over and over again: is Pilates during pregnancy safe? It is really safe but you need to know important reminders. It is important to ensure that you can do a strong pelvic floor contraction. You need to seek your doctor’s advice before you actually engage. Exercises are made for strength and yes, even pregnant women can do Pilates during pregnancy, but should ensure not to abuse it.

Is Pilates during pregnancy safe? Now you know the answer to this question.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Mothers everywhere are always concerned about safety during pregnancy.

For those who either continue to exercise or who begin to exercise during pregnancy, safety is always of the utmost concern. It is important to always work with a Pilates instructor who has been trained specifically in prenatal exercises.

There is little research done specifically on the benefits of Pilates during pregnancy.

However, there is a significant amount of research done on the benefits of exercise in pregnancy in general to support its practice.

Pilates is a gentle form of exercise. It does not place undue stress on the joints.

Because it focuses on the “powerhouse’ or the core of the body, it works to improve balance, coordination and strength even during pregnancy. Pilates during pregnancy can be especially beneficial since it works to strengthen the abdominal core and spine which are the primary muscles supporting the expanding pregnancy belly.

The abdominal muscles work with the back muscles and the muscles of the pelvic floor to support the weight of the pregnancy and these same muscles are also the focus of Pilates…the “powerhouse”.

There are several good Pilates books and Pilates videos, specifically Pilates pregnancy videos, to guide you through the months of pregnancy.

Denise Austin is an expert in the field of health and exercise. She has several powerful exercise videos that are easy to follow and that are designed to provide you with easy exercises which target the core abdominal muscles.

My favorite Denise Austin book is Pilates for Every Body.

This book is designed to provide you with the guidance to strengthen, lengthen and tone your body through a complete body makeover. Denise is a wonderful teacher and I particularly love her very practical tips called “Denise-eology” that she shares throughout the book.

Another well respected teacher, Mari Winsor, is the author of The Pilates Pregnancy. Mari developed the Winsor Pilates method based on the fundamentals of Joseph H. Pilates. She is a sought after trainer for A-list celebrities.

It is important to listen to your body, especially during pregnancy. If certain movements are painful for you then work with your Pilates instructor to either modify those movements or eliminate them from your Pilates routine during pregnancy.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Yes, it is safe if you do your part to listen to your body and make adjustments as your pregnancy progresses.

So pick out some fabulous and comfy Pilates clothing, put on some soothing music, clear your mind and work with your beautiful body.

Enjoy your pregnancy! Here’s to a happy, healthy and safe pregnancy.
